There are various methods of holding the pipe in place before screeding or flooring takes place.

Profiled boards are specially designed to hold the pipe securely and at exact spacings.

Clip rails are designed to be used with flat sheet insulation boards or fixed direct to concrete subfloors.

Note: Steel mesh (normally A142) can be used as an alternative to clip rail when it is not possible to mechanically anchor the clip rail to the insulation or subfloor. Plastic cable ties are used to secure the pipe to the mesh.

Metal plates may be used on timber joisted or battened floors. Not only do these hold the pipe in place, they also conduct heat from the pipe and spread it on the underside of the timber floor.
